The baroque guitarThe Baroque guitar looks very similar to the guitar of the 21st century however there are some key differences that arise between the two. Similar to other stringed baroque instruments, the baroque guitar was made from gut strings, which caused it to have a much softer, warmer sound than its 20th century counterpart. These strings were crafted from muscle fibers found in animal intestines, most commonly sheep. Asides from this the baroque guitar was smaller in stature and had ten rather than five strings. It’s pitch seemed generally higher and inside the sound hole was a deep engraved pattern, this created less echo inside the guitar so that it ultimately had a quieter, less rich sound.
